Currently, Dr Mackenzie is the Pro-Vice Chancellor (Partnerships) at Wrexham Glyndwr University, with responsibility for UK and international academic partnerships, international recruitment, online programmes, and enterprise partnerships. His international experience spans over 20 years and includes relationships across the Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Africa.
His previous roles include Pro-Vice Chancellor (Partnerships and International) at Teesside University and Dean of Academic Partnerships at the University of Essex.
He has been involved in higher education quality assurance processes with the UK's Quality Assurance Agency for over a decade, acting as an auditor and reviewer and Review Manager. Dr Mackenzie is also an expert in technology-enhanced learning and the online and blended delivery of higher education.
He is currently the Chair of the Council for Validating Universities [CVU], a HE sector body which offers advice around good practice in partnerships, including quality assurance issues.
